We’re passionate about Bryan County and the properties it has to offer. But how did this 44,000 person county become such a desirable place to reside? Founded back in 1907, the county is going through somewhat of a renaissance. We have no shortage of reasons to visit, move here, and of course, invest in property. Here are a few reasons why Bryan Country has been climbing the interest ladder.

Bryan County is home to Lake Texoma, which draws tens of thousands of visitors to the region every year. 89,000 acres of calm bliss sits right on the border where Texas meets Oklahoma. The lake is a hotspot for locals, and it’s been a summer staple in my family for as long as I can remember. It offers virtually limitless recreational activities and is home to hundreds of campgrounds, and even several resorts. How many lakes can say that?
If you’re tired of the old shopping mall routine, downtown Durant is the place to be. Main Street, cutting through the heart of the city, is home to trendy boutiques and gift shops. To keep you going during your shopping excursions, stop in at one of the cafes or patisseries offering handmade treats that are practically culinary artwork. It’s no wonder the homes in this area are extra desirable.
Oklahoma is known for its great nature, and Bryan Country is no exception. One thing you can count on is finding the freshest (and local) fare that the agricultural industry has to offer. And if you’re a fan of cheese and yogurt (like I am) this is the place to get it at its freshest.
The Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant is a sight to behold and draws crowds for its spa, shopping, dining, and entertainment (thinking bowling and laser tag). Oh, and its casino! This grand and gorgeous establishment even includes a theater hosting some pretty impressive touring musical and comedy acts.
Schools in Bryan County tend to be diverse and boast a low teacher to student ratio. A one-on-one atmosphere sets children up for success. This could be a reason why Durant, in particular, tends to see higher than average test scores in its public schools. It’s no secret that proximity to good schools is a factor in real estate value, so your home investment is safe in Bryan County.
